Eleanore Concidine, 103, Wabasha

Eleanore Concidine, age 103, of Wabasha, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Peppi’s House, Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, AZ. She was born December 18, 1915 in Callaway, MN, the daughter of Douglas and Karibelle (Borst) Brown. At a very early age the family moved back to Wabasha County to the Brown family homestead. She attended country school until the family moved to Wabasha when her father was elected Wabasha County Sheriff. Ellie finished school in Wabasha and attended Stout State College in Menomonie, WI for one year. She returned to Wabasha to marry J. Wesley Concidine. They married June 5, 1935 and they enjoyed 60 years of married life together. Wes was a former teacher, coach, principal and superintendent of the Wabasha school district. Wes died August 12, 1995.
Ellie was a long time member of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Wabasha. She was a devoted wife and mother. She spent the last 23 years of her life wintering in Arizona and returning to enjoy her summers in Wabasha. She has been characterized as admirable, spirited and stylish, and indeed she was. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and her many devoted friends.
She is survived by her three children, Mary Andersen, Jim Concidine, and Weslyn (Tom) Fleming; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; niece, Cindy Brown and nephew, Douglas Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley, son-in-law, John Andersen, brother, Douglas Brown, her parents, and at 103 years of age nearly everyone of her generation.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 11:00am at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Wabasha with Reverend Sherry Drysdale-Schruth officiating. Family friend, the Reverend Monsignor Robert Meyer offered the homily and eulogy. Family and friends called at Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 4-6pm. Memorials are preferred to Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, 205 3rd St. E. or to St. Elizabeth’s Community Development Foundation, 1200 5th Grant Blvd. W., both of Wabasha, MN 55981.
