Eugenia M. ‘Jean’ Tentis, 65, Wabasha

 Eugenia M. “Jean” Tentis, age 65, of Wabasha, died of natural causes at her home Thursday, July 20, 2017. She was born February 26, 1952 in Springfield, MN, the daughter of Kenneth and Arlene (Tiecher) Ristau. Jean moved to Wabasha in 1967, living with the Duke and Jean Loretz family and attending St. Felix High School. After the high school closed in 1968 she attended Wabasha High School, graduating in 1971. She married Raymond Tentis August 21, 1971 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha.
 Jean was the first advocate for victims of sexual assault in Wabasha County. She and Ray also did foster care in their home for 15 years, taking in troubled children and giving them a loving home. They also worked with two private foster care agencies. Jean was a caring and unassuming woman who had a big heart for disadvantaged youth. She will be missed by her loving family and the many children she helped along the way.
 She is survived by sons, Ray Tentis, Jr., Wabasha, MN, Kendell Tentis, Rochester, MN, Michael Baumgartner, Oronoco, MN, Justin Smith, Red Wing, MN; daughter, Jennifer Tentis, Rochester, MN; three grandchildren, Joseph and Keira Tentis and Reana Tentis; her foster parents, Duke and Jean Loretz, Wabasha, MN; brothers, Rick, Paul, Garth and John Ristau; sisters, Mary Jo Edward, Tammy Chatleain, Joyce Brower and Gloria Barr; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her parents, Kenneth and Arlene Ristau, step-father, Thomas Edwards, brother, Steve Ristau and sister, Debbie Ristau.
 In accordance with her wishes her body has been cremated. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:30am at St. Agnes Cemetery in Kellogg with the Reverend Father Gregory Parrott officiating.
