Fred A. Heaser, Jr., 80, Plainview

The funeral service for Fred A. Heaser, Jr. will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview with Father William Becker officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joachim’s Catholic Cemetery in Plainview.
Mr. Heaser, 80, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.
Fred Aloysius Heaser, Jr. was born December 22, 1936 in Plainview to Fred and Josephine (Majerus) Heaser, Sr. He attended Fisher Hill School in Winona County, and graduated from Plainview High School in 1954. On February 4, 1956 he married Joyce Chadwick at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview. Fred lived most of his lifetime in the Plainview area.
Fred was employed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation from 1954 until he retired in 1993. He served on the Plainview City Council and as an Interim Mayor for four years. He enjoyed spending his time gardening, and was a voracious reader. Fred especially enjoyed attending school sporting events for many years, and was active in fund raising drives for the school Track Programs. He and his wife, Joyce started the Plainview Trackbackers Booster Club, and served as its president for several years. Fred was a member of St. Joachim’s Catholic Church and served in as an Altar Server, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and on the Parish Council. He was a former member of the Plainview Lions. He and Joyce were King and Queen of Plainview Corn on the Cob Days.
 Fred is survived by wife, Joyce Heaser of Plainview; four daughters, Trish (Bruce) Iverson of Elgin, Jean (Ike) Speedling of Plainview, Jackie (Steven) Mercer of Charles City, IA, and Barbara Lee of Rochester; one son, Steven Heaser of Farmington; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Claire), Amanda, Andrew, Chantel, Courtney (Michael), Justin, Emily, Stephanie, and Cody; four great-grandchildren, Reese, Lawson, Mariah, and Isabella; and one sister, LaVonne Brintnall of Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
 Friends and family may visit from 1 to 4 on Sunday, September 24, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
