Geomagnetic Storm Brings Spectacular Northern Lights to Wabasha

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a rare geomagnetic storm watch for October 10, and projected several states would have the opportunity to view the Northern Lights. There was buzz mid-week that in southeast Minnesota may have a chance to see some lights from Aura Borealis, but one can never know for certain. 
It's often rare for the northern lights to venture far enough into southeast Minnesota for Wabasha to experience them, and when they do, specific night sky conditions are required. The conditions that night were in fact, perfect.
