Jackolyn L. ‘Jackie’ Biever, 79, Reads Landing

Jackolyn L. ‘Jackie’ Biever, age 79, of Reads Landing, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-St. Marys Campus in Rochester. She was born October 5, 1938 in Stearns County, Minnesota, the daughter of Harold and Evelyn (Brockway) Klinger. She married Donald Biever April 27, 1957 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. Jackie was a homemaker, raising their six children and in the 1970’s she also worked at Anthony’s Clothing Store in Wabasha. She and Don later purchased and operated the Coast to Coast hardware store in Wabasha for several years. Don died June 13, 1999.
She was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church and she was a 50 year member of the Catholic Order of Women Foresters. She recently received the perpetual Mass enrollment honor. Jackie was a very giving person volunteering her time in the community. She was a Buddy reader at the Wabasha-Kellogg Elementary School and she was an active volunteer at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Wabasha and a member of its auxiliary. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club. Jackie enjoyed playing cards, reading and following her grandchildren’s activities on Facebook. QVC has lost a valued customer. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Jackie is survived by her six children and their spouses, Julie and Gary Russell, Wabasha, MN, Dr. Dawn and Dr. James Lowery, Columbus, OH, Lisa Glomski, Phoenix, AZ, John and Tara Biever, Kellogg, MN, Jill and Robert Wodele, Wabasha, MN, Chris Biever, Red Wing, MN; eleven grandchildren and two and soon to be three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Harriett Klinger, Wabasha, MN; one niece and two nephews; and her very best friend, Bev Bantley, Lake City, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her parents, Harold and Evelyn.
A memorial prayer service celebrating her life was held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00am at Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha. Family and friends called at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8pm with a prayer service at 8pm and they called at the funeral home on Tuesday one hour before the service. Memorials are preferred to St. Elizabeth’s Community Development Foundation, 1200 5th Grant Blvd. W., Wabasha, MN 55981.
