Nick Loechler

Nicholas Herbert Loechler was born September 7, 1979, in Rochester, Minnesota to Peter and Judy (Roemer) Loechler. He graduated from Wabasha-Kellogg High School and during his senior year he earned his carpentry diploma at RCTC, alongside learning and working with his father. This paved the way for Nick’s hard-working, successful career as a contractor. He loved carpentry and the unlimited possibilities it provided for his brilliant and creative mind.
On February 18, 2005 he married his forever love, the one he held tightly to in all aspects of life, Collette. He immediately encompassed her two young, precious children, Jackson and Claire and Nick became a bonus dad immediately – a role he has always cherished deeply.
Nick and Collette “built” a life together that consisted of their 3 businesses and had two additional perfect children, Hudson Nicholas and Eva Claire - Nick’s pride and joy.
Nick was easily one of the most hard-working men you would ever meet. He worked hard but loved harder. He was proud of his four children and their accomplishments. He took great pride in teaching all of them anything he could, and they knew who to call day or night. If you were a friend of Nick’s (and he had many), you knew the value in his friendship, whatever that might have looked like to you. He especially held a core group of friends near and dear to his heart. But ultimately, his deepest love laid with his wife. He entrusted all the above and every element of his life to her and they did life beautifully together.
Nick attended Anchor Point Church for 16 years where he became an active member. He was instrumental in helping Anchor Point progress toward purchasing its own building. He brought wisdom, experience, and clarity throughout a process that spanned more than a decade. Nick’s faith was clear through his selfless ambition as his hands were instruments of God’s purpose.
Nick was a member of the Wabasha Fire Department for 17 years where he valued and respected his fellow brothers. He had an immense passion for snowmobiling; therefore, he was a volunteer with the Wabasha Driftskippers. He loved making time for hunting and fishing (especially in Ely, MN), but ultimately his passion was for days spent on the water with his loved ones.
Nick’s absence will leave a giant hole with his family and friends. Especially by his wife, Collette; his children Jackson, Claire, Hudson and Eva; his mom, Judy Loechler, brothers Jason (Karen) and John Loechler; sister Tara (Matt) Glomski. Nick’s mother and father-in-law, David & Claudia Sather, brother and sister in laws, Kristina (Jake) Roemer; Kyle (Jayde) Sather. And many nieces and nephews, whom he enjoyed wholeheartedly and loved like his own. Nick was preceded in death by his father, Pete Loechler, and grandparents.
Along with many extended family members, friends that he loved like family, coworkers, friends, community members, those who entrusted him with building their homes, and anyone who experienced his presence, strength, and kindness.
Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at St Felix Church in Wabasha, MN.
