Reads Fest parade and celebration ensues

WABASHA — Hosted at Reads Landing and put on by the Wabasha County Historical Society, Reads Fest was celebrated through the sunny Saturday afternoon of Aug. 15. The parade took off at noon, traveling down County Rd 77 alongside the landing.
A tradition that began in the early 1900s, Reads Fest was born as an annual Home Coming celebration. It was designed for friends, neighbors, and family to return to their roots and reconnect with those who had moved away over the years.
This year, the parade proceeded with great patriotism as many honored America in its 250th year. Between patriotic stickers, a dog sporting a USA outfit, Statue of Liberty and Uncle Sam lookalikes, and others in their best red, white and blue, the parade was a reflection of true American pride. Live music and other activities carried on throughout the evening.
