Ronald John Stamschror

Ronald John Stamschror, 74, of Kellogg, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Ronald was born February 25, 1949, in Wabasha, MN, to Doreen (Klein) and Lloyd Stamschror. He graduated from St. Felix High School in 1967 before going on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in Airport Management from Troy State University. Ronald married Linda Fowler on June 26, 1971, in Weatherford, TX, together they had two sons.
Ron was born and raised on the family farm on Pepin Hill. He was homecoming king and after graduation enlisted in the US Army, becoming a helicopter pilot. He flew two tours in Vietnam. During his first tour, he was shot down and received burns over 30% of his body for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He also spent three years in Germany patrolling the Soviet border and a one-year tour in South Korea. He retired from the Army after 20 years and went on to fly helicopters and corporate planes for Dairyland Power while also farming part-time on Ron and Linda’s farm in rural Kellogg. After retiring as a pilot, he farmed full-time until 2011.
He loved to hunt, fish, and golf. He was a shareholder and board president for the Coffee Mill Golf Course. Ron was a past commander of the Wabasha American Legion Post #50 and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086. He loved his family and spending time with his grandkids. In retirement, he traveled with his wife, Linda, and spent the winters in Florida, near his son, Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Stamschror.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Brian (Lynn) Stamschror and their children: Holly Stamschror, Morgan Stamschror, Jake Stamschror, and Kaylin Polk, Shea Polk and great granddaughter Iliyah Lee-Polk; son Brandon (Michelle) Stamschror and their children: Lauren Stamschror and Parker Stamschror; his mother Doreen; siblings: Jim (Teresa) Stamschror, Jack (Cindy) Stamschror, Gary (Jane) Stamschror, Tom Stamschror, Karen Wolfe, Kevin (Lori) Stamschror, Bill (Debbie) Stamschror, Lori (Jim) Perry, Vonnie (Wade) Schneider, and Paula (Willie) Perry; and 24 nieces and nephews with many more great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, MN, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha, from 4:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. Interment will be at St. Felix Catholic Cemetery, Wabasha, MN, with military honors by the Wabasha American Legion Post #50 and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086.
