Sgt. Donald LeRoy Merckling, formerly of Wabasha
Donnie Merckling formerly of Wabasha, and a long time resident of West Concord passed away at his home on
July 3, 2018 and found freedom from long time suffering, from War related illnesses. Donnie lived a humble life, although many referred to him as a Guitar, and Vocal Sensation. He had encouraged many in Peace, and in War with his love of music, while entertaining. He had performed on the Mississippi Queen, and in Night Clubs throughout the USA.
Donnie had given to many Charities, including the Jeremiah Ministries, Operation Living Hope-founded in 2007 by his beloved Sister Theresa Annie Malone olivinghope.org
Donnie had a love for creating and inventing, and had built a tractor at his home in West Concord where he had won a Tractor Pulling Contest. He had a heart for the very poor, and gave many gifts to the hurting, and suffering. Donnie is survived by his beloved wife Dixie, his two beloved Sons John Merckling, of Shakopee MN, and Ronald Merckling of Pasadena California, beloved Step-Sons Nathan Peters, Grant Peters, Brad Peters, all of Minnesota, and Dr. Troy Peters, and his dear wife from Arizona, his Loving Grandson Nathan, Also surviving Donnie is his older beloved brother Johnny, his wife Carolyn, beloved younger sister Theresa Annie, and her husband Bill Malone, his beloved younger sister Gracie, and husband Alan Landes, his Beloved little brother Roy David Merckling, and Casey. Twila and Allan Holtan ( like a brother and Sister) Donnie is also survived by all of his Precious grand-children, Precious Nephews and Nieces, Caring and blessed Friends, especially Lee. Donnie you will be so very missed, may you sing Glory to our Father God in Heaven always, John 3:16 For God so Love the world that He gave His only Begotten Son, that who so-ever-believeth in Him shall not perish but have ever lasting Life.
A Military Honor Service, at Fort Snelling National Cemetary is scheduled for Donald Merckling at 10:30 AM on Thursday July 12, 2018. Please have your family and friends meet in Assembly Area 4 at 10:15 AM
