Steven Vern Peterson, 69
Steven Vern Peterson, 69 of Wabasha, sadly passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
Steve was born February 12, 1951, in St. Paul, MN to John and June (Mausolf) Peterson. He was raised in St. Paul, MN with his parents and three brothers. After attending Afton High School, he joined the US Army. When he finished serving he went on to attend Dakota County College. There he obtained his CDL. Steve owned and operated his own truck and traveled across the United States. After his retirement he bought a house in Wabasha where he later went on to meet his soul mate Joyce.
Steve was a beloved life partner to Joyce and a loving father to Carmen and Lisa. He liked to spend his time cooking, gardening, listening to classic tunes, and watching his favorite sports teams (MN Wild, Twins, Vikings, Gophers, and AR Razorbacks). Steve enjoyed spending the winter months in Arkansas with Joyce and their two dogs Mary-Jane and Token. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his life partner Joyce Underdahl; two step children: Carmen Short and Lisa (Ben) Wanless; three nephews: John Peterson, Greg Peterson, and Ryan Peterson; cousins: Tim McDaniels, Robin Schaeppi, Jodi McDaniels, Kelly Holmes, and Tom Christenson; and many grandchildren and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and June Peterson; three brothers: Arden, Phil, and Scott (Bill) Peterson; two cousins: Linda Raasch and Ralph Raasch.
In lieu of flowers, Steve wished to have donations made to the humane society in his honor.
Due to current restrictions, the interment will follow social distancing guidelines and wearing of masks. Interment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Greenfield Cemetery, Kellogg, MN. Military rites will be provided by members of the Wabasha American Legion Post #50 and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086 and the MNARNG Honor Guard.
