Thomas L. Schintz

Thomas L. Schintz, 89 of Wabasha, was taken to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 11th, 2022, unexpectedly at his home.
Thomas was born October 28th, 1933, in St. Paul MN, to Lester and Eleanore (Neumann) Schintz. He graduated from Harding High School, St. Paul, MN. On August 11th, 1956, he married Barbara Nell Larson. Together they raised three children: Cindy, Tim, and Don. Tom and Barb were married for 57 years before Barbs passing in 2014.
“Pastor Tom”, as he was known to most, held many job titles over the years. He was a Busboy at the St. Paul Hotel, Private First Class in the Army and worked as a Radar Technician, Fuller Brush and Bible salesman, a Floor Director at KSTP television. He graduated from Bethel College and Seminary, and then became Pastor of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Eagan MN, then First Baptist Church of Pipestone MN, and then became a Chaplain at Maranatha Care Center/Presbyterian Homes. He retired when he was 78 years old.
Other roles that he would take on in his life were: Trout Lake Camp pastor, minister, preacher, evangelist, worship leader/singer, counselor, teacher, mentor, encourager, mechanic, photographer, painter, Eagle Enthusiast, poet, traveler, guest preacher, and an Elder at Anchor Point Church of Wabasha.
He was also an athlete. In high school, he was on the cross country, swim, and football teams. Later, he would go on to play tennis, handball, volleyball, hockey, snow skiing, water skiing,fishing, softball, and racquetball. And of course, GOLF!
He is survived by his three children: Cindy (Mitchell) Veness, Tim Schintz, and Don (Sue) Schintz; nine grandchildren: Crystal (Rob Martens) Schintz, Rachel (John) Sniadajewski, Kayla Schintz, Amber Schintz, Thomas (Tiffany) Schintz, Katee (Eric) Hines, Dan (Rachel) Schintz, Joe (Kayla) Schintz, and Matt Schintz; eight great grandchildren: Johnny, Lukas, William, Benjamin, Gabe, Zach, Emma, and Seth.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Eleanore; wife Barbara; brothers Robert and Joel.
Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at 10:30am at Wabasha-Kellogg High School Auditorium (2113 Hiawatha Drive East, Wabasha, MN).
Memorials to Anchor Point Church Building Fund.
