Wayne A. Eastman, 90, Reads Landing

Wayne A. Eastman, 90 of Reads Landing, MN, passed away Friday, September 28, 2018 at St Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Wabasha, MN.
Wayne Almer was born November 2, 1927 in Prairie Farm, WI, to James and Ellen (Morley) Eastman. He attended the Reads Landing School. On March 17, 1951, he married Shirley E. Strawmatt, and together they raised their four children: Steven, Ken, Joyce and Debbie.
He was honorably discharged from the US Army after he completed his tour of duty during WWII. He was formerly employed at the Milwaukee Rail Road (Canadian Pacific) and then as a bridge worker for the Minnesota Department of Transportation, retiring in June 1990. He was a member of the Burkhardt Roemer VFW Post 4086 and the American Legion Post 50. He loved living on the river at his home in Reads Landing. He enjoyed gardening, watching and feeding the birds, camping, and sharing a beer with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; four children: Steven (Joan) Eastman; Ken (Dawn) Eastman; Joyce (David) Rieck and Debbie (Mark) Koenig; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 11 sisters and 2 brothers. Wayne is the last of his siblings to pass away.
There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha, MN.
