William D. ‘Bill’ LaBrec, 61, Eldon, IA

 William D. “Bill” LaBrec, age 61, of Eldon, IA, formerly of Wabasha, died of natural causes in his sleep at his home on Sunday, January 31, 2016. He was born May 5, 1954 in Wabasha, the son of Douglas and Mary Ellen (Peck) LaBrec.
He was a 1972 graduate of Wabasha High School. He then attended and graduated from Rochester Community Technical College and then attended and graduated from the police academy in Alexandria, MN. He worked as a policeman, deputy sheriff and a U.S. Marshal. He lived and worked in Plainview, Claremont and Hayfield, MN and Postville and Marshalltown, IA where he retired. He later worked for a security firm in Marshalltown and most recently for the past year worked as chief of police in Eldon.
 Bill is survived by daughter, Lisa LaBrec, Clermont, IA; parents, Douglas and Mary Ellen LaBrec, Wabasha, MN; sister, Sandy Tenwolde, Wabasha, MN; brother, Joseph LaBrec, Hayfield, MN; four nieces, Tina Marie (Marc) Leino, Chantell Tenwolde, Ivy Rose LaBrec, and Samantha Taylor LaBrec; one nephew, Wyatt LaBrec; one great-nephew, Spencer Douglas McCumber; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 A memorial Mass will be held at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 2:00pm with the Reverend Father James Russell officiating. Honorary bearers will be men that were associated with Bill in law enforcement: Bill Sisers, Jim Warren, Dave Kruger, Joe Stark, Bill Murphy, Joe Kaupa and Rod Adams. Family and friends may call at the church on Monday, February 15, 2016 one hour before the service. The Abbott Funeral Home of Wabasha is in charge of arrangements. www.abbottfh.com
