Augusta City Council holds three meetings in September

AUGUSTA - The full Augusta City Council held three meetings in the month of September, two special meetings and their regular monthly meeting, at Augusta City Hall.

One of the special meetings was held on the 23rd. There the Council approved a picnic license for the Augusta Lions Club and also approved the annual CMAR compliance report.

There was another special meeting held on the 16th. The Council approved a picnic license to the Augusta-Bridge Creek Fire Department for a benefit they are planning for Oct. 24-25. They also approved a “Welcome to Augusta” sign permit application for the Augusta Historical Society, approved amendments to Chapter 11, Licenses and Permits, relating to the regulation, licensing, and control of high-risk dogs plus approved a measure calling for greater enforcement of Control of Weeds and Grasses in response to complaints of non-compliance with City mowing requirements. They also approved the Liability Insurance renewal quote for 2026-2027.

In both meetings were 2027 budget items were discussed along with budget planning as well. There was also discussion of a sewer rate increase along with budgets of the city's water and sewer fund.

During the regular meeting of the Council back on Sept. 8, the Council approved a one-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) addendum. They also approved the workman's compensation insurance renewal quote and referred to the Planning Commission amendments to Chapter 11, Section 11.03 Trailers, Trailer Parks and Mobile Homes after dealing with problems in the city's mobile home park this past summer. Bartender's licenses were approved as well.
