Donald A. Thaldorf

Donald “Don” August Thaldorf age 93, of Cochrane, WI passed away peacefully at Sauer Health Care, Winona, MN on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. He was born on June 20, 1926, in Oak Valley, Town of Waumandee to William and Edna (Schlawin) Thaldorf. Don was united in marriage to Evangeline (Vange) Roffler on June 18, 1955 at St. Martin‘s Lutheran Church, Winona MN. To this loving union two children were born: Becky and Peter.
Don grew up the second born in a family of 5 children. Graduated from Cochrane High School in 1944. Shortly after high school Don served in the U.S. Army. After his military service, Don drove school bus for the Cochrane School District. For most of his working career he worked as the Service and Parts Manager for A.H. Rohrer Chevrolet Buick. In 1980 he became part owner of the dealership.
Don was community minded and served in many capacities. He served as a volunteer on the Cochrane Fire Department, Cochrane Village council member and president. He was a charter member of the Cochrane-Buffalo City Lions Club. Later in life he was a member and president of the Cochrane Co-op Telephone Board. Don was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church of Cochrane and served on the board.
Don was an avid Wisconsin sports enthusiast. He was a fan of the Brewers, Bucks, Packers, and Badgers. He also would play golf as much as time and weather permitted. In his golfing career he carded four holes-in-one.
Don will be forever loved and sadly missed by his wife of 64 years, Vange; children, Becky (Joe) Duellman, Fountain City, WI, Peter (Darla) Thaldorf, Eagan, MN: 6 grandchildren, Joshua (Michelle) Baures, LaCrosse, WI, Kipp (Ashli) Baures, Cochrane, WI, Brittany (Kevin) Slaby, Galesville, WI, Leah (Brian) Kingfisher, Superior, WI, Luke (Danielle) Thaldorf, Rochester, MN, Daniel Thaldorf, Inver Grove Heights, MN; 6 great-grandchildren, Braydon, Jordyn, Elena, Crew, Bristol, Owen; brothers Lynn ( Janet), Boise, ID and Gerald (Beverly), Buffalo City, WI., brother-in-law Orlow Widvey, Hudson, WI., and special family friend Gustavo Gatti, Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alberta Widvey, brother, William Jr. and sister-in-law Marabelle (Thaldorf) Mowery.
Due to the Corona Virus, services for Don are pending at this time until we can once again all come together to celebrate and commemorate a life well lived.
