Eunice Maxine Johnson

Eunice Maxine Johnson, 97, formerly of Pepin, WI passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at Deer Crest Senior Living in Red Wing, MN where she spent the last 4 ½ years of her life. She was born on January 13, 1925 in Frankfort Township, rural Pepin County, WI; daughter of Clarence and Ida (Nelson) Moline.
She attended Little Plum School and graduated from Durand High School, Class of 1943. During her senior year of high school she began working part time for Tom Parker, Pepin County Ag Agent, and continued working there for the next year after graduation.
Maxine then began working for the American Bank of Alma when it opened a branch bank in Pepin in 1944. She worked there for the next 2 years.
On October 5, 1946 she married Willard F. Johnson at Sabylund Lutheran Church in rural Stockholm. They farmed in Pepin Township until retirement. In 1968, after raising her family, Maxine went back to work for the American Bank in Pepin. She retired from the Bank of Alma in 1987. During her retirement she worked part time as an office manager for Stockholm Town Mutual Insurance Co. for the next 17 years.
Maxine was a lifelong member of Sabylund Lutheran Church. Maxine and her husband, Willard were baptized, confirmed, and married at Sabylund. During those years, she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, served on the church council, and was a member of the women's organization.
She was a member of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Society of Pepin. During that time she served as treasurer and wrote the newsletters. She retired from the organization in 2000.
Maxine had two lifetime interests; writing and history. She combined them to research and wrote her own family genealogy as well as her husband's.
Maxine and Willard loved to travel. They visited several national parks, and enjoyed visiting relatives around the country. They had the opportunity to travel to Sweden three times, 1983, 1987 and again in 1997.
She is survived by her son, Lynn (Katie) Johnson; four grandchildren, Ryan (Renee) Linse, Darin (Franz) Linse, Rachel (Matt) Gens, and Preston (Abby) Johnson; eleven great-grandchildren, Tristan, AliceAnne, Kaden, Kyren, Lucas, Ethan, Samuel, Jacie, Nora, Finley and Evelyn; one great-great-grandchild, Leon.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard; daughter, Pamela and her husband, Robert Linse; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen (Delores) Moline, Kenneth (Evelyn) Moline; sister-in-law, Audrey Johnson.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Sabylund Lutheran Church in rural Stockholm with Pastor Paul Opedahl officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, WI is assisting the family.
