Joan Komro

Joan K. Komro, age 86, died Monday, March 27, 2023, at home in Arkansaw, WI.
Joan was born March 5, 1937, in Durand, WI to Walter and Clara (Stewart) Severson. Joan married George Komro on April 13, 1965. Together they farmed in Arkansaw, had a St. Paul Pioneer Press paper route, and owned and operated Komro’s Bar in Durand. The bar was sold and she retired in January 1999. Joan had a good sense of humor and enjoyed bowling, playing cards and pool, gardening, feeding and watching birds, especially hummingbirds, and spending time with her family and friends.
Joan is survived by her children Mike (Sandy) Almsted, Diane Almsted, Rodney (Linda) Komro, and Judy (Blake) Schultz; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws Evelyn Severson and Lu Severson; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband; siblings Charles Severson, Walter (Arlie) Severson Jr., and Paul Severson; daughters Linda Almsted and Patricia Hauschildt; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at the French Cemetery, Arkansaw, WI, at 11:00 a.m. on April 15, 2023, with a celebration of life at the Arkansaw Community Center following the service
