Ramona Ann Hinga was born: January 10, 1935 in Pepin, WI., and died: March 9, 2021 in Sleepy Hollow, IL.
Ramona Ann Hinga, age 86 of McHenry passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 9, 2021 in Sleepy Hollow, IL
She was born January 10, 1935 in Pepin, Wisconsin, the oldest daughter of Wallace and Mildred Peters. She married Jack Hinga on February 11, 1956 where they settled in IL, primarily in Half Day, Wauconda and McHenry to raise their three children, Paul, Jackie and Joline.
She worked for the family limousine service, Barrington Limousine, from the late 1960’s to the mid 1970’s.
She was employed by Honeywell in Arlington Heights IL from 1977-1997. She wore many hats through her service there. She was hired as the switchboard operator then moved into customer service and then as the front lobby receptionist until she retired in 1997. Mona was also a member of the Honeywell Honeybells. She was also employed part time as a switchboard operator for Good Shepherd Hospital from when they opened in 1979 to 1999.
Mona taught Bible school at Messiah Lutheran church in the early 70’s.
She will be remembered for her love of living. Always smiling, always positive, always energetic and willing to help. An inspiration to anyone who knew her.
“Mo Mo” as her great grandsons like to call her, loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren and great grandsons, and of course, throwing the ball for her four-legged grand dog Lilly. She also enjoyed traveling , reading, playing penny slots at the casino and always enjoyed a good card game with family and friends.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her son, Paul (Therese) Hinga and daughters, Jackie (Brantly) Harrison and Joline Karl (Dan Buyck). Her sisters, Lavonne Heitman and Karen Oberding, her brothers, Jason Peters (Dorothy), David Peters (Maureen) and Mark Peters. Four Grandchildren, Brandon Hinga (Kristin), Jacob Hinga (Bridget Rhoades), Corinne Spring (Marshall) and Andrew Hinga (Loribeth), five great grandchildren, Parker, Finn, Wyatt, Sullivan and Olivia and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Hinga, her parents Wallace and Mildred Peters, her brother Albert Peters and Son-In-Law, Eugene Karl.
A grave site service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday May 1, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin Wisconsin.
