Anna Evanson
Anna Sophia Evanson, 94, of Holmen, formerly of Trempealeau and Independence, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse.
Anna was born April 1, 1922, in Nelson Township, Buffalo County, to Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Sande) Amdahl. She attended Nelson Grade School and graduated from Nelson High School.
Anna married Theodore Evanson on Sept. 5, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church. La Crosse. He died Feb. 23, 1994. The couple had four children, Tyler, Marie, Gary and Mary.
She had several jobs throughout her life that she enjoyed including Huntsinger Farms in Eau Claire, Corn Factory in Plainview, Minn., and cook for H. O. Tiffany loggers. She enjoyed baking, gardening, making rugs and being around family. After all these years of her making lefse, we came to find out that she did not like lefse.
Anna is survived by a son, Tyler Evanson of Trempealeau; 12 grandchildren, Duane (Julie) Evanson, James (Nancy) Evanson, Thomas Evanson, Jennifer (Wade) Elliott, Jeffrey (Tanya) Evanson, Christine (Cary Stalheim) Evanson, Nancy (Josh) Hollister, Paul Burnett, Lee (Jamaica Severson) Evanson, Gary Evanson, Jr., Melissa (David) Schultz and Craig Evanson; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Marlys Amdahl.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth; husband, Theodore; son, Gary Evanson; two daughters, Mary Evanson and Marie Burnett; four sisters, Gertrude Paulson, Severine Ott, Evelyn Nyre and Elsie Amdahl; two brothers, James and Ole Amdahl.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Lyster Lutheran Church, rural Nelson, with Rev. Michael Vetsch officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
