Larry Wrobel

Larry J. Wrobel, 94, of Mondovi, formerly of Gilmanton, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi.
He was born in Gilmanton, on June 17, 1922 to the late Albert and Margaret (Schultz) Wrobel. On Sept. 2, 1953, he married Alda Weiss at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi. Since that time, they made their home on the Wrobel farm in Lees Valley.
Larry was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus and was active in many community activities. He served on the Gilmanton Town Board for 40 years, serving the last 25 as Town Chairman. He also served as president of the Gilmanton Cooperative Creamery Board and was involved with the Gilmanton Community Club, the Gilmanton Sportsman’s Club and the Gilmanton Cemetery Board.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, traveling and spending time with his family, especially during the holidays and birthdays.
Larry is survived by his three children, Julie (Dan) Lee of Mondovi, Mark (Debra) Wrobel of Hudson and Tracy (Robert) Barbarich of Wautoma; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Tony) Stemberger of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Angie (Eric Wold) Lee, Blaine Lee, Jonathan Barbarich, James Barbarich; one great-grandchild, Malcolm Wold; sister-in-law, Virgil Wrobel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Alda; son, Craig; siblings, Eileen (Oscar) Rosenow, Lawrence (Loray) Wrobel, Alvin (Hazel) Wrobel and Emory Wrobel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Mondovi with Fr. Paul Bosco officiating. Burial will follow in the Gilmanton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi with a 5:30 p.m. Scripture Wake. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the Mass on Friday at the church.
