Quick action by the Mondovi Fire Department helped save a pole building from going up in smoke on Wednesday morning, Oct. 29.
MFD units responded to a call reporting hay bales on fire at the Cody Haigh farm, located at W349 County Highway HH southeast of Mondovi, at about 10:30 a.m.
According to Mondovi Fire Chief Dennis Brion, firefighters removed 160 bales of hay from a pole shed used to store round bales with help from a neighbor’s skid steer and two tractors at the farm. Forty bales had to be extinguished.
Crews from the MFD were on-scene about four hours to contain the fire.
No injuries were reported in conjunction with the blaze.
