Jim Barton

James Anthony Barton, age 70, of Wabasha, MN, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on September 15th, 2026.
Jim was born on July 6th, 1956, the son of Henry and Mary (Stamschror) Barton in Wabasha, Minnesota. He married the love of his life Mary Ann Arnoldy on July 30th, 1977, at St. Felix Catholic Church.
Jim graduated from Wabasha Kellogg High School in 1974. He then went to work at Federal Mogal in Lake City, SkelGas in Kellogg, and WSN as on-site inspector. But most proudly, he ran the family farm.
He was a hard worker and enjoyed the outdoors. His hobbies were hunting, camping, fishing, farming, and his family.
His grandkids were the light of his life and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
Jim is survived by his wife Mary Ann Barton; children: Jesse (Stephanie) Barton of Mazeppa, MN, Jarod (Brooke) Barton of Lake City, MN, and Justin (Erica) Barton of Plainview, MN; siblings: Tom (Barb) Barton, Kate Heins, Sharon (Al) Streveler, Pete (Barb) Barton, MaryKay (Charles) Springer, Bruce (Judy) Barton, Barb (Pete) Quade, Carolyn (Don) Klees, Bill Barton, Terese (Pete) Wallerich; brother-in-law Gilbert (Carol) Arnoldy; sister-in-law Jane Haas, 8 grandchildren, and MANY MANY nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by father Henry Barton, mother Mary Barton, and brother Steve Barton.
A visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha, MN.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, MN with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at St. Felix Cemetery.
