Falcons fall to Bethlehem Academy, 18-0

Homecoming football game moved up due to foreseen rain

WABASHA—Wabasha-Kellogg was unable to break into the win column at their homecoming game on Thursday night, falling 18-0 to Bethlehem Academy and dropping to 0-3 on the season.
The Falcons came close with their efforts to the end zone, though they ultimately failed to score by the end of the game. The Cardinals scored on a rushing touchdown, followed by a 37-yard touchdown pass and an 11-yard touchdown run to take an 18-0 lead.
W-K finished with 177 total yards, including 115 rushing and 62 passing. The Falcons picked up 13 first downs and ran 63 offensive plays compared with 54 for Bethlehem Academy.
One notable highlight stood with Bryar Ender. As the seconds ran out in the first half, Ender managed a 40 yard run with the ball in hand, dodging a handful of tackles before falling just a few yards short of the end zone as a Cardinal finally took him down.
Overall, quarterback Kevin Wiebusch led the Falcons on the ground, carrying the ball 17 times for 98 yards. He also completed 12 of 26 passes for 62 yards.
Bryar Ender was Wiebusch's leading receiving target, catching six passes for 50 yards. James Oxendine added three catches for 15 yards, while Eli Hester had one reception for eight yards.
Ender also lead on defense with four solo tackles, three assists, one sack and three tackles for loss. Nolan Kruger recorded three solo tackles and three assists, along with a sack and a tackle for loss. Oxendine added six total tackles, while Jonas Dunn finished with seven total tackles.
Wabasha-Kellogg's offense converted one of nine third-down attempts and one of five fourth-down attempts. The Falcons also committed two turnovers, including one interception and one lost fumble.
The loss marked W-K's fourth consecutive defeat dating back to last season. Bethlehem Academy picked up its first victory of the season to move to 1-2, while the Falcons fell to 0-3.
