Barbara Ellen Borgen

Barbara Ellen Borgen, 83, of Plainview, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. She was born February 23, 1941, in Welcome, MN to Victor and Eleanor (Brinkman) Stusse. Barbara attended school in Claremont, MN and graduated from high school in 1959. On April 8, 1961, she married the love of her life Glen Borgen in Dodge Center.
After marriage the Borgen’s lived in Rochester from 1961 until 1965 when they moved to rural Plainview. Barbara was employed over the years at Federated Mutual Insurance Company in Owatonna, she sewed drapes for the Senst Department Store in Plainview for many years. She also worked for a few years at Mallard Seed Company in Plainview, and then worked as a Para-professional at PEM Schools, and helped with Early Childhood Screening. She was an election judge for Elgin Township, was a 4-H Leader, Den Mother for Boy Scouts, and taught Sunday School.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Glen Borgen of Plainview; a daughter, Ellen (Dave) Noble of Elgin, and a son, Brian (Kelly) Borgen of Sonora, CA; six grandchildren, Eric, Breanna, Justin, Mike, Bayleigh, and Jake; sisters, Nancy Bristol of Bozeman, MT, and Debra (Arthur) Hall of Dodge Center; brothers, Robert Stusse of West Concord, and James Stusse of Alaska. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Scott, granddaughter, Brianna Borgen, sister, Judy, and brother Richard.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin with Pastor Josh Moldenhauer officiating. Friends and family may visit from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or a charity of Donor’s Choice.
