James L. Krusmark

James L. Krusmark, 84, of Plainview, passed away September 3, 2022 at Rochester West Health Services.
He was born August 17, 1938 in West Albany, MN to Jess and Rose (Klein) Krusmark. His family lived in rural Plainview and he attended the Plainview school. He lived in Mankato and served 4 years in the Army Reserves. On August 22, 1959 he married Marilyn Durgin of Plainview at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church. They have lived in the Plainview area all married life of 63 years.
Jim belonged to the Plainview Jaycee’s, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and helped with many local projects. Such as the first installation of the Plainview Swimming Pool, demolishing the old City Jail and Corn-on-the cob dances and other festivities. He was employed with the city police in 1965 and joined Wabasha County Sheriffs Department in January of 1967 as deputy for 11 years and then moved to Chief Deputy for 16 years. He retired in March of 1995.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn, 3 sons and 2 daughters; Jeffrey of Montgomery, TX, Julie (Mike) Getschmann, Jon (Brenda) and Jason Krusmark of Plainview and Janel (Brian) Mallari of Rancho Santo Margarita, CA.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Robert (Bob) and Richard (Dick) Krusmark and an infant sister.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday, September 8, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview with Msgr. Thomas Melvin officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joachim’s Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
