Jeanette Johnson Obituary
Jeanette Johnson, 92, of Plainview, died at her home Tuesday, January 13, 2015.
Jeanette was born December 5, 1922 in Plainview to Clarence and Avis (Wright) Spengler. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1939 and the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester in 1944. She then joined the United States Army and served with the Army Nurse Corp, 119 Evacuation Hospital in Central Europe until January, 1946.
On March 23, 1947 she married Robert L. Johnson at the Community Presbyterian Church in Plainview. They lived in Chicago and the two of them graduated from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1947. They worked in Chicago and St. Paul until moving to Plainview in 1952. At that time they purchased a share of the Foley & Lindsey Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Plainview.
Jeanette was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Association. She was also a member of the Plainview American Legion Post #179, and the Ladies Auxiliary Unit # 179. She enjoyed playing Bridge, gardening and spending time at there cabin up north.
Jeanette is survived by her daughters; Stephanie (Steve) Kreofsky and Jill Johnson both of Plainview; seven grandchildren; Tracy (Todd) Linbo, Tamara (Rob) Szekeress, Brian (Becky) Johnson, Alyssa Kreofsky, Bradley (Nina) Kreofsky, Kelly Kreofsky, Adam Johnson; four great-grandchildren; Megan and Ella Szekeress, Alexander Robert Johnson and Jack Kreofsky and daughter-in-law, Teri Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, 1 son, Robert Jr. and 3 brothers.
Funeral service is Monday, January 19, 11:00 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church in Plainview with Rev. John Curtiss officiating. Burial is at Greenwood Cemetery, Plainview. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Plainview American Legion Post 179. Visitation is Monday, 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be designated too; Community Presbyterian Church, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Disabled American Veterans.
