John Francis Holzer

John Francis Holzer, 72, of Plainview, MN, passed away Saturday evening on January 23, 2021 at Rochester East Health Care in Rochester, MN.
John was born August 15, 1948 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Wabasha, MN to Kenneth and Wilhelmina (Minnie Kreidermacher) Holzer.
John graduated in 1966 from Plainview High School. In 1970, he married Anne Rausch and divorced in 1982. During their marriage, they had three children, Shari, Greg, and Denton. In 1990, he married Diane (Polzin) Doherty.
John farmed almost his whole life on the family farm in Plainview. He did this many years of his life with his parents and sister. John was also a member of the First Settlers Club of Plainview and St. Joachim’s Catholic Church. John also loved to bowl, play cards, dance, and play and watch almost all sports.
John is survived by his wife, Diane; his two sons Gregory, (Rochester, MN) and Denton (Michelle) (Oronoco, MN); two stepsons, Kevin Doherty, (Wells, MN), and Scott Doherty, (Rochester, MN); his four grandchildren Rachel, Kailee, Avah, and Kayden Holzer; 1 great-grandson Enrique; 4 step- grandchildren Arianna, Cohen, Autumn, and Aiden.
John was preceded in death by his parents Minnie and Kenny Holzer, his sister Mary Holzer, and his daughter Shari Holzer.
John’s funeral was held in private on February 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. with only immediate family present.
John’s sons, Greg and Denton, would like to invite any family and friends who want to attend a celebration of life to join them on Saturday May 8, 2021 at Eastwood Park in Plainview, MN to celebrate their dad’s life. All are invited. Food and beverages will be provided by family.
