Robert Hofer

Robert (Rob) Lee Hofer, 55, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, from his hard-fought battle against cancer, with his wife Lisa and daughter Bri by his side. Rob was born on September 10, 1967, in Mitchell, SD to Marlowe and Helen (Bauer) Hofer. He graduated from Bridgewater High School in Bridgewater, SD in 1986.

After graduation he married Doreen Nelson, they had one daughter and later divorced. On July 15, 1994, Rob married Melissa (Missi) Upton. They had 2 daughters and one son, and later divorced. In 2012 Rob and Lisa (Woolley) fell head over heels in love and they were married on July 27, 2013.

Rob worked various jobs throughout his lifetime from working on the family farm in South Dakota, and after graduating from high school he moved to Minneapolis and worked at the Sears Warehouse. After he moved to Millville, he built grain bins and worked at Lakeside Foods in Plainview. He then worked for Plainview Milk Products for 25 years before recently starting work in maintenance at the Plainview-Elgin-Millville Schools until his diagnosis of cancer. He especially loved his work at the school and enjoyed the school staff and co-workers.

Rob and Lisa enjoyed traveling and took two special vacations, one in 2013 to Jacksonville, Florida so Rob could see the ocean for the first time enjoying the Atlantic Ocean and then traveling to Tampa and enjoyed the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico. In 2016 they took Robs son Caleb and his stepson Tyler to Seattle, by way of going through California and up the coast along the Pacific Ocean enjoying the spectacular sights.

Robs proudest moments were when he walked his two daughters Alishia and Bri down the aisle on their wedding day along with the father/daughter dance. He enjoyed his visits with his daughter Danielle and family in Sioux Falls, SD. Rob especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he was the life of the party. He loved the 80's, and once said "if there was a time machine he would have loved to go back where Rock & Roll was awesome. He also enjoyed watching his movies even if some of them drove Lisa crazy. 

Rob is survived by his wife, Lisa Hofer (Woolley) of Plainview, his 5 children, Danielle Hofer (Nick) of Sioux Falls, SD, Lexiee Fenty of Minneapolis, Alishia Brennan (Makayle) of Hamond, Briana Murphy (Matthew) of Elgin, and Caleb Hofer of Plainview. He also has three stepsons Dylan, Cody, and Tyler Evenson of Wanamingo. Between Rob and Lisa, they have 13 beautiful grandchildren that he enjoyed spending time with. He is proceeded in death by his father Marlowe Hofer, mother Helen Hofer (Bauer) and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

The family would like to thank everyone for their continued love and support during these difficult times as Rob fought his battle with cancer.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
