E-S School Board approves second middle school D.C. trip
CENTRAL - A successful field trip to Washington D.C by students in Eleva-Strum Middle School will lead to another on 2028. The E-S School Board approved it during their August meeting back on the 12th in the school building's IMC.
Nash Weiss, Business Education Teacher, provided the Board a report of the 2026 middle school trip to Washington, D.C. which he said went very well. Weiss expressed appreciation for the support of staff and chaperones and commended the students for their very good behavior. The Board thanked Mr. Weiss for coordinating the trip and the next trip to the nation's capital by middle schoolers will be on tap in two years.
Elementary School Principal Marty Kempf reported to the Board that the Forward Exam results have been provided to the district. The results will be reviewed to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement. he also stated that a new behavior plan will be introduced and implemented this year to provide additional support for staff and address their student-behavior concerns.
Middle/High School Principal Josh Skoug reported to the Board this year’s musical will be "The Little Mermaid". He also reported that enrollment numbers are projected at 178 students for the high school, down from 194, while middle school enrollment is projected at 151 students, up from 134.
In personnel matters, the Board approved the hiring of Karla Douglas, C-Team Volleyball Coach; Jeremiah Segerstrom, Assistant High School Football Coach; Marissa Olson, Middle School Volleyball Coach; Josh Segerstrom, Volunteer High School Football Coach; Tyson Gullicksrud, Volunteer High School Football Coach; Greg Marco, Volunteer High School Football Coach; Olivia Windjue, Middle School Volleyball Coach; Dwight Sands, Middle School Football Coach; Jamie Hillestad, Middle School Football Coach; Nate Kuehl, Middle School Football Coach and Kloe Rud, Special Education Paraprofessional.
In other agenda items, the Board approved the 2026–2027 Student Handbook, the 2026-2027 Academic and Career Planning District Plan the 2026-2027 Employee
Handbook and the art lab computer purchase.
