Eleva-Strum School Board holds three meetings in August

CENTRAL - The Eleva-Strum School District Board held three meetings in the month of August. All of them were in the IMC of the Central School Building.

The first was a special meeting of the Board on the 4th at. There the following hires were approved unanimous;ly by the Board: Halle Nicolet, C-Team
Volleyball Coach; Elizabeth Affolter, Middle School Special Education Teacher; Sue Emerson, Special Education Paraprofessional; Emma Miller, Volunteer High School Girls Basketball Coach and 8th Grade Girls Volleyball Coach; Josh Segerstrom, High School Assistant Football Coach; and Nick Segerstrom, High School Assistant Football Coach. Motion Carried. Also approved was the 2025-2026 Coaching Handbook.

The Board held its regularly scheduled Augusta meeting on the 13th. Plans for a district funding referendum were discussed with more discussion to take place in future meetings. The Board unanimously approved the resignation of resignation of Jessica Rasmussen, EL Teacher and the hires of Bethany Onstad, MS Volleyball Coach; and Mayra Hernandez-Cuaquehua, EL Teacher. A middle school field trip to Washington D.C. in June of 2026 was approved unanimously along with the 2025-26 Student and Employee handbooks for the district the 2025-26 Academic and Career Planning District Plan. An amendment to the 2025-26 Athletic Code which strikes a section to be in alignment with WIAA requirements was also approved unanimously.

It was also in this meeting the Board decided discontinue to livestream meetings on the district's website for now but can be revisited at a later date if needed.

The Board held another special meeting on Aug. 20. There the Board approved the resignation of approve the resignation of Anna Leffel, Middle School Social Studies Teacher and the hiring of Carla Douglas, Middle School Social Studies Intern.|
