Fairchild Village Board candidate surveys

FAIRCHILD - The Village of Fairchild has four candidates running for three seats on its village board in the upcoming spring election which will be held on Tuesday, April 2. Polls in the village open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

These four candidates are Paul Kopernik, Casey L. Aichele, Jade Ruppelt Card and DuWayne K. Mueller. Both Aichele and Card are incumbents on the Board. The Tri-County Area Times sent out candidate surveys all these candidates. Mueller returned his. Here are his replies:

1). What's the most important thing you hope to accomplish in the term on the village board you are running for?

Encourage businesses to return to the Village of Fairchild. Without a larger tax base to work from the Village is going to die out.

2). What are your ideas to help the village improve its infrastructure?

Again, encourage businesses to return to the Village. There are too many properties in the downtown area that are empty and dilapidated and are not contributing to the tax base.

3). What does Fairchild need to do to meet its challenges when it comes to economic development?

It seems that there are a few people who live here who feel entitled to do whatever suites their fancy and don't care for the ordinances of the Village. If I am elected to the position of trustee of the Village of Fairchild, I will try to be fair to everyone and will not allow my friendship to get in the way of enforcing the ordinances of the Village.
