Jackson County Board approves updated comprehensive plan

BLACK RIVER FALLS - The Jackson County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to update the county's comprehensive plan during its January meeting back on the 15th at the county government center.

The plan is used as a basis for county and local decisions on official mapping, local subdivision regulations, county zoning ordinances, township zoning ordinances zoning of shorelands or wetlands in shorelands under and as a guide for approving or disapproving actions affecting growth and development within the jurisdiction of Jackson County.

The plan will be in effect from 2023-2043

The Board dealt with matters concerning health. They unanimously approved the addition of an Environmental Health Sanitarian within the Public Health division of the county's Dept. of Health and Human Services (DHHS), was approved by a 17-1 vote. They also voted to approve the addition of a Public Health Strategist within the Public Health division of DHHS, again by a 17-1 vote (Supervisor Kunes of District No. 6 - Melrose voting against both measures) and they voted to 18-0 for the addition of addition of a WIC Supervisor/Dietitian within the Public Health division of DHHS.

In other agenda items, the Board voted unanimously to deny a legal claim against the County for Vincent Simone of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, in the amount of $50,000 for past and future pain, suffering and disability plus past and future medical expenses. They also voted to reclassify the Geographic Information System Coordinator/911 Data Coordinator to Grade 10 on the Jackson County Wage Scale;
