Jackson County Board holds reorganization meeting for new term
BLACK RIVER FALLS - The Jackson County Board of Supervisors held its first meeting after the spring election of April 7 to reorganize itself for a new term at the Co0unty Government Center the morning of April 21. All 19 members of the Board were present.
District No. 12 Supervisor Ron Carney of Warrens was elected chairperson by a 12-7 vote over Bill Laurent of Alma Center representing District No. 9. It took four ballots to elect a Vice-Chairperson and that went to Ed Chamberlin of District No. 19 from Black River Falls. Supervisor Max Hart, also of Black River Falls, was elected 2nd Vice Chairperson after five ballots. Supervisors Mike Beck, Ed Chamberlain and Mike Kunes were declared winners of the three Highway Committee positions.
The Tri-County Area is represented by Supervisor Brian Bethke of Osseo in District No. 1 which includes the towns of Cleveland and Garfield along Hwy. 10 going through the northern slice of the county.
A petition to re-zone land in the Town of Cleveland was considered by the Board. It filed by Emert Family Farm to change three acres of the Official Zoning Map from the A2 (Forestry and Limited Agricultural) District to the R6 (Residential-Rural Ag) District. The full Board approved this request 19-0.
