Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church Brings in the Bidders for annual Fall Bazaar and Auction
By Lori Johnson
PIGEON FALLS - This event is one of the most most looked forward to in the area. It's been happening for several years and every year the excitement builds until finally, the big night arrives. This year, Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church held its Fall Bazaar and Auction on Oct. 2 in the church basement. Their elevator provided easy access for those with physical challenges.
One thing you can always count on is the variety of items that come in to be auctioned off. Everything from garden produce, to homemade jams and jellies, crafts to decor items, quilts to needlework throws. As always lefse loaves of bread and other Norwegian goodies were big items .And let's not forget farm fresh eggs! The 36 bidders had a lot to choose from and friendly rivalry bids kept things exciting.
Melissa & Todd Erickson were the "Vanna Whites" for the night, holding up items and showing them to their best advantage as Auctioneer Tim Barnum, who has attended for many years provided a fast pace and good humored atmosphere. This year the item that was most popular with the bidding was a framed picture of The Last Supper.
This year for the first time, nicely made up and filled baskets were available to bid on in a silent auction, where people had to wait until the end to see who were the lucky ones that got to take them home.
Another part of the excitement is always the neat raffle prizes. Ticket winners were: Anna Hudson=$250 Falls Meats certificate, Sheryl Narva 43" Roku ready TV, David Tweed $100 Kwik Trip card, Janna Allen Ninja Air Fryer, and double winner David Tweed-Quilted Throw.
After the bidding was done the UPC Ladies of the ELCA provided a delicious lunch,
About the best compliment is overhearing someone saying at the end of the night, "This has been so much fun. Can't wait to come again next year."
