Bruce J. Klassen

Bruce J. Klassen, 66, of Plainview, MN, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 7, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. He was born July 16, 1958, in Wabasha, MN to Everett and Leona (Ellinghuysen) Klassen. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Plainview, MN through the 8th grade and graduated from Plainview High School in 1976. Bruce married Carol Wobbe on September 14, 1991, in Wabasha, MN and together they raised two daughters at their rural home in Plainview.

In his younger years Bruce spent many summers at his uncle’s farm helping with daily chores like cleaning the barns and baling hay. After graduating high school, he worked for J.P. Schneider Masonry for 20+ years, while working part-time as a rural mail carrier for the Plainview Post Office. Eventually transitioning to full-time as a rural mail carrier, until his retirement in 2020.

Bruce found immense joy in spending time with his family and friends. He always loved a good time out-on-the-town, especially 4-wheeling with his wife and friends. He would help his family with the family owned “Klassen Popcorn Stand”. He was a devoted MN Vikings fan, even when they were hard to watch. Bruce was a very loving and caring person who had many friends. Whether it was spending quality time with his family or sharing laughs with friends, Bruce’s presence was always cherished. He enjoyed going deer hunting, fishing, and collecting old money bills. Bruce was a life-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview where he served as an usher.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; two daughters, Chelsea (Hunter Kroening), and Ashley (Andrew Stromness); two brothers, Ronald (Joan) and Duane (Jean); and sister Rita Klassen all of Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lorraine.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Yacki Hayashi-Tanner, of Gunderson Hospital, LaCrosse, and to the entire nursing team at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating. The burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Friends and family may visit from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
