David T. McDonald

David T. McDonald, 62 of Reads Landing, MN, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at his home.
David Thomas was born February 15, 1961, in Wabasha, MN to Charles and Josephine “JoAnn” (Meyer) McDonald. He graduated from Wabasha-Kellogg High School and was a life-long area resident. After 30 years of being together, he married Connie Carpenter in Old Frontenac, MN on December 31, 2021. He was employed for 37 years shearing steel and did some assembly at Valley Craft, Lake City.
Dave was a member of Reads Landing Water & Sewer Board; very knowledgeable about Reads Landing history and very interested about U.S. History and politics. He took a course through Foley-Belsaw Institute and enjoyed working with small engines; fishing, gardening, and was proficient in the identification of wildflowers, trees, birds, and waterfowl. He enjoyed canoeing the backwaters of the Mississippi and going on adventures up north.
He is survived by his wife Connie; a daughter from a previous marriage Megan (Ed) McBride; his mother JoAnn McDonald; five siblings: Michael (Jennifer) McDonald; Kathleen (Richard) Schell; Patrick (Jamie) McDonald; Charles (Suzette) McDonald; and Steven (Beth) McDonald; Connie’s children: Dori (Jay Blaise) Kempker; Dustin Holcomb; and Daniel Holcomb; Connie’s grandchildren: twins-Will and Abby Kempker; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles McDonald and infant grandson Oliver McDonald.
A visitation will be 10 am to 12 noon, Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha.
