Dorothy Kathleen Wyatt
Dorothy Kathleen Wyatt, 81, of Reads Landing, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born on March 8, 1942, to Glen and Velma Ackerman in Waterloo, Iowa. They later moved to LeRoy, Minnesota, where Dorothy spent all of her school age years. Shortly after graduation of high school, Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Wyatt in 1960. Together they raised four daughters, Sherri (Kelly) Murphy, Kristene (Dave) Wallerich, Valerie (Rob) Mathias, and Michelle Schuth.
Jerry and Dorothy moved to Reads Landing, Minnesota in 1976. They owned and operated Wyatt’s Landing, in Reads Landing, until 1986. Dorothy then worked at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center until her retirement.
Dorothy loved the simple things in life. She enjoyed her flowers in the spring and all the fruits and vegetables they harvested in their yard. She was always willing to share them with others. Her homemade apple pie was a family favorite.
Dorothy also enjoyed playing POGO on the computer and the occasional trip to Treasure Island with family and friends.
But what Dorothy loved most, and was most proud of, was her family. She loved them fiercely. Nothing made her happier than visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always had everyone’s favorite treats on hand and did her best to send something home with them.
Dorothy is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Jason (Courtney) Dove and their children Kaiden, Elizabeth, Julian, Logan, and Charleigh; Kyle (Shameika) Dove and their children Kendyl, Merrick, Elijah, Brecket, Maverick, Brooklyn, and Remi; Connor Murphy; Matthew (Samantha) Wallerich and their children Landyn, Norah, and Paige; Kara (Erich) Firzlaff and their children Ahna and Haylee; Melissa (Jason) Lawler and their child Clare; Angela Schuth and her children Lily, Sophie, and Nash; Kirsten (Ryan) Schuth and their children Emma and Will; Bryce Bohl; Olyvia Bohl.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Velma Ackerman and Howard and Marcella Wyatt; son-in-law Merlin (Pidge) Dove; grandson Brandon J. Mathias, and an infant great grandson Wyatt B. Lawler.
A graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon at the VFW starting at noon following the service.
