There Is One Storm Drain Filter In Wabasha

Minnesota is known for its abundance of water, whether it be the Mississippi River or over 10,000 lakes. Wabasha itself has world-class fishing opportunities and a role in the state's identity and ecosystem. Wabasha residents deeply value these resources the Mississippi provides.
When interviewing Tony Johnson about being the Director of Public Works, I inquired about the storm drains in town. I did so because I had shared a public announcement regarding the Adopt A Storm Drain program. Adopt A Storm Drain is a national non-profit that aims to encourage people to protect clean water in their communities by taking care of their local storm drains. I wanted to know more about the storm drains in Wabasha.
Johnson mentioned there is one storm drain filter in Wabasha located on Walnut Street, and it was viewed as a trial. As of now, more storm drains and/or filters are not required in Wabasha. As for the limited storm drains that do exist, most do not have filters on them.
