Len ‘Lennie’ Carrels

Len "Lennie" Carrels, 66 of Wabasha, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021.
Len was born September 13, 1955, in Wabasha, MN to Ronald and Stella (Lee) Carrels. He graduated from Wabasha-Kellogg High School in 1974. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was formerly married to Bonnie Lager on November 23, 1974.
Len was employed with the City of Wabasha, and he also owned and operated a tree service in Wabasha. He was known to many as a “jack of all trades and a master of none". He also served in the Wabasha Fire Department. Len was very active in A.A. He enjoyed playing cards and fishing. He loved spending time with his family on the river especially with his four granddaughters. His passion was carpentry and working on cars. Len enjoyed meaningful conversations and was always willing to listen and offer his insights.
He is survived by two children: Josh (Sara) Carrels and Hannah (Oliver) Regal; four grandchildren: Piper, Paecyn, Chloe and Olivia; his mother Stella Carrels; two sisters: Debbie (Keith) Johnson and Jayne Zeller; Other family: Betty (Jim) Trollen, Donna (Dale) Richardson, Mary (George) Simpson, nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Ronald Carrels; two brothers: Larry Carrels and Lonnie “Smokie” Carrels; former wife Bonnie; and a niece Beverly Slater.
A memorial gathering will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022, at the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post 4086, Club Room, 138 Second Street, E, Wabasha, MN.
