Rochelle Rae Schamaun, age 88, of Wabasha, formerly of Alma, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026 with her beloved husband and family at her side at the Lake City Care Center in Lake City, MN.
She was born the daughter of R. Eugene and Velora E. (Haigh) Reinhardt on August 15, 1938 in Winona.
Rochelle attended Durand Schools and graduated from Durand High School with the class of 1956.
On December 29, 1956, Rochelle was united in marriage to Glenn J. Schamaun at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Nelson. To this union, one daughter was born.
Rochelle worked at various jobs during her lifetime, most notably as a waitress at the very first Anchor Inn at Reads Landing and at Alma Area Schools, but most of her work was by the side of her husband on their dairy/beef farms in Trout Creek. In her younger years, she loved vegetable gardening and harvesting and canning the fruits of her labor in the fall.
She was a life-long and faithful member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Nelson. Rochelle enjoyed bowling, especially on mixed couples with her family and ladies afternoon league with her daughter.
Following their retirements, Rochelle and her husband enjoyed traveling in their motor home to Arizona or Florida. Although she was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, she could give you knowledgeable information regarding any other NFL team as well. Her love of crossword puzzles was a hobby she had right to the end.
Rochelle was a gracious lady with a big heart, especially to her very special and beloved grandchildren. Her legacy and memory will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Rochelle will be dearly missed by her husband of almost 70 years, Glenn; her daughter and son in law, Janese and Tom Quarberg; grandsons, Isaac (Beth) Quarberg and Matthew (Hadley) Quarberg; great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Eli and Lainey Quarberg; sister, Marcia Galvin; brother, Terry Reinhardt; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, Rochelle was preceded in death by a brother in law, Mike Galvin and sister in law, Jeanne Reinhardt.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Nelson with Pastor David Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Alma Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
