Thomas W. Burnett, 75, Wabasha

Thomas W. Burnett, age 75, a lifelong resident of Wabasha, died Friday evening, October 28, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha. He was born May 21, 1941 in Wabasha, the son of Michael and Loretta (LaRocque) Burnett. Tom worked several years for John Wodele at Wabasha Transfer and then worked as a truck driver for Wabasha Sand Gravel and Readi-Mix Company. He retired in 2005 due to health concerns. He married Linda Sandwick October 1, 1966 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. They later divorced.
He was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church. He also had worked as a caretaker for many years at Riverview Cemetery in Wabasha. He loved country music and dancing. He also enjoyed spending time at the Wabasha Beach Park and travelling about town on his electric scooter. His greatest love was having BBQ’s with his family and spending time with his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tom is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and Jason Mickow, Wabasha, MN, Julie and Chad Mayer, Rochester, MN; son, Tommy Burnett, Wabasha, MN; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Larry Peters, Kellogg, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Loretta Burnett and brothers, Michael, James and David Burnett.
A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Reverend Father Gregory Parrott officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery in Wabasha. Casket bearers will be grandchildren, Tommy, Allie and Ben Edelbach, Jaxon Mickow, and Eva Burnett and nephews, Larry and Jim Peters. Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Wednesday from 4-8pm when a prayer service will be held and they may call at the church on Thursday one hour before the Mass.
