Thomas William Binner

Thomas William Binner, age 78, a lifetime resident of Wabasha died Saturday, Feb 11, 2023, after a battle with cancer. He was born June 9, 1944, in Wabasha to Franklin and Adelaide (Ness) Binner. He attended Greenfield Twp. School, then St. Felix High School graduating in May 1962. He attended Winona State College, later joining the U.S. Navy in 1965 as an aircraft electrician. He navigated completely around the world and in his travels was initiated as a Son of Neptune and Trusty Shellback.
Upon his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Wabasha and went to work for Wabasha Electric. Later he worked at Federal Mogel in Lake City, MN. He also joined the 544th Heavy Equipment Army Reserve unit in Wabasha, retiring August 1st, 1993, as a Sergeant First Class with over 22 years of service.
He married his lifelong friend, Carol Ann Passe, at Nativity of Mary in Bloomington Minnesota on June 25, 1983.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, putzing and especially his grandchildren. He shared the love of travelling with his wife, visiting all 50 states.
Survived by wife Carol, step sons Mike (Sarah) Johnson, Jason (Kate) Johnson, and grandchildren Phil, Abigail, Sander, and Mia and his siblings: Mary Ann Binner, Michael Binner, Robert & Jolene Binner, Marge & Jon Bergin, Larry & Kate Binner, Joe & Carol Binner, Cheryl & Mike Maier, Cathy Binner & Vern Dietzenbach, Dan & Linda Binner.
Preceded in Death by parents and brother David Binner.
Also survived by his In-Law Siblings: Andrea & Gerry Erickson, Bonnie Peplinski, John & Caren Passe, Mary Lee & Keith Lovejoy, Steve & Terri Passe, Jeff Passe & Lauri.
Thomas was a Lifetime Member of Veterans of Foreign War, Burkhardt-Roemer Post 4086, and member of American Legion Post 50.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, MN. Interment will be at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha with military honors provided by the VFW Burkhardt-Roemer Post 4086, and the American Legion Post 50.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha and beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
