Walter Marx

 Walter N. Marx, age 92, a retired area farmer and lifelong resident of the Wabasha area, died Tuesday evening, November 25, 2014 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha. He was born December 12, 1921 in Wabasha, the son of Mathias and Bertha (Mars) Marx. He attended Pepin Hill Country School. He married Marie Gosse September 17, 1946 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. Walt farmed his whole life on Pepin Hill on the Marx family farm. He also drove a milk truck for NFO from 1975 -1979.
 He was a lifelong member of St. Felix Catholic Church and a member of St. Joseph’s Society of Catholic United Financial. He was also a past member of the Knights of Columbus, the Pepin Town Board, the National Farmers Organization and the Pepin Hill Farmers Club. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening and in his retirement years, woodworking.
 Walt is survived by his wife, Marie Marx, Wabasha, MN; sons and daughter-in-law, John and Carol Marx, Wabasha, MN, Gene Marx, Wabasha, MN; daughter, Linda Marx, Lake City, MN; two granddaughters, Dawn (Michael) Klindworth, Goodhue, MN and Jennifer Marx, Wabasha, MN; five great-grandchildren, Curtis, Dylan, Wyatt, Lydia and Loretta Klindworth; brother, Norbert Marx, Wabasha, MN; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by son, Richard Marx, granddaughter, Amy Marx, his parents, Mathias and Bertha Marx, sister, Irene Trinkes and brothers, Ivan, Paul and Henry Marx.
 A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Reverend Monsignor Thomas Cook and the Reverend Father Joseph LaPlante officiating. Interment will be in St. Felix Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Roy Schmidt, John Klees, Dave Meyer, Gary Russell, Tony Wallerich and Gary Stamschror. Honorary bearers will be Norbert Marx, Paul Klees and Roger Wise. Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Friday from 4-8pm with a prayer service at 8pm and at the church on Saturday one hour before the service. Memorials are preferred to the Amy Marx Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. Felix School, 100 3rd St. E., Wabasha, MN 55981 and St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center, 626 Shields Ave., Wabasha, MN 55981.
