Alice June Lee, 83, of Altoona, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Communities – River Pines, in Altoona.
She was born May 28, 1934, in Mondovi, daughter of Elmer and Alvina (Preifert) Smeltzer. She grew up in the Mondovi area and graduated from Mondovi High school. On May 28, 1954, she was united in marriage to Allen Lee. Alice worked for Gillette Hospital and Mondovi Implement before beginning her 49-year career at the Bank of Mondovi (later Alliance Bank). She was well known for her dedication and service as an officer of the bank. Alice always said that her work was her life.
She was a member of Central Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to visit with friends and enjoyed cooking. Alice loved her family and always spoiled her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Bruce (Connie) Lee of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Angela (John) Brickheimer of Chippewa Falls, Anna Lee (Jeff Myher) of Eau Claire, and Nathan (Grace) Lee of Eau Claire; seven great-grandchildren, Alissa and Austin Lee, Chelsea and Matthew Walker, Adalynn and Macey Brickheimer, and Dustin Myher; two sisters-in-law, Janice Smeltzer of Bloomington, Minn., Audrey Zimmer of Sparta; brother-in-law, Mark Lee of Milwaukee; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; parents, Elmer and Alvina (Preifert) Smeltzer; three sisters, Virgil Johnson, Dorothy Olson, Arlene Stay; two brothers, Russell and Donald Smeltzer.
The family would like to thank Lake Hallie Memory Care and River Pines for their loving care of Alice.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, at Central Lutheran Church, Mondovi, with Pastor Rolf Morck officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Lutheran Cemetery.
