Bette Bauer

Bette L. Bauer was resting peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, when the gates of heaven opened and she was called home. It was on Sat., March 4, 2017, at the age of 82.
She was born in Eau Claire, Wis. to the late Ammons and Anna Thompson. She married the love of her life, James J. Bauer, on Nov. 18, 1952. They shared 64 years of marriage. Together, they created a close and loving family. Family meant everything to Bette. They shared yearly family trips, 40+ years of Memorial weekend fishing fun in Spooner, birthday celebrations at Irvine Park, and hayrides and campfires at Furlows, where the fire crackled and glowed out waves of love.
She was known for her “Tom and Jerry’s,” homemade donuts, porcupine meatballs, and macaroni hot dish! Her crocheted dollies, knitted dolls, and quilts will be held close forever.
Her faith was evident throughout her life. Several years of perfect attendance at Sunday School, to singing in the traveling children’s choir, started her faithful life. The purchase of the family bible at the start of her marriage guided and strengthen the family through hardships and many medical issues. A cross could be found in every room of the house. Sunday Mass with shoes shined and everyone dressed to the “hilt” was a weekly ritual. She served on the PCCW and was a Eucharistic minister in the nursing homes. She ended her life with prayer.
She taught her family to live life to its fullest which included lots of fun! She loved to play, “Don’t Get Mad” marble game and every family member, age four and above, played this game with her more than once! She loved fishing, flowers, birds and butterflies; traveling, gambling, bowling, roller skating, and movies; coffee time, shopping, manicures, pedicures, and massages, but all of these were enjoyed with family and friends!
Bette made many friends when she worked at Super Valu and Dregney Realty.
Bette was known for her big heart and big smile. She was compassionate and was one who knew what “listening” really was. She was sweet, kind, and caring and, as her husband said, “looked like a million bucks!”
Remember her as “the little sweet lady with a big smile!” Good Night Irene…We love you more….
Bette will be forever missed by her husband of 64 years, Jim of Mondovi; her children, Vicky (Ray, Sr.) Breidung of Mondovi, David Bauer of Mondovi, Sharie (Jay) Furst or Rochester, Minn., Cindy (Duane) Brantner and Chuck (fiancée, Michelle) Bauer of Mondovi; grandchildren, Ray Breidung, Jr, Stacy Breidung, Kristy Breidung; Sara Kins, Jenny Swanson, Andy Kins, Kirin Furst, Nik Furst; Sheila Fedie, Heidi Bignell, Mitch Brantner, Kim Nelson; Chad Bauer, Matthew Bauer and Chad and Matthew’s half-brother, Joe Binkowski; 18 beloved great-grandchildren; her half-sister, Ila Baader of Nelson; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mondovi, with Father Paul Bosco officiating. Burial followed in the Parish Cemetery.
