Donna Nyre
Donna Marie (Smith) Nyre got her “wings” on July 24, 2017, at American Lutheran Communities, Mondovi, with her family present.
She was born on April 4, 1932, to Vernard and Myrtle (Crawford) Smith. Donna graduated from Mondovi High School and married her high school sweetheart, David L. Nyre on Oct. 7, 1950. They fulfilled their dream of farming until retirement. Donna took pride raising her family of four and dedicated her life to her family and daughter with special needs. She had a strong faith and was active in Central Lutheran Church. She was always willing to help and care for others. Donna helped in creating ARC of Buffalo County and developing the clothing store in Mondovi. She received the Citizenship of Mondovi Award.
Donna is survived by her children, Diane (Dennis) Schultz of Eleva, Donalynn “Dondi” Hayden of Durand, David L. (Jeanne) Nyre, Jr. of Mondovi; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Rachel) Schultz, Steven (Erica) Schultz, Trevor (Julie) Hayden, Darcy (Jeff) Davidson, Ryan Hayden, Samantha (Josh) Brantner, Carlee (Alex) Norby, Kayla Nyre, David Nyre; great-grandchildren, Dominic and Jamison Schultz, Hunter Hayden, Connor, Lilly and Madalyn Davidson, Charles Brantner; sister, Melita Steward; brother-in-law, Don Fimreite; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; daughter, Dorothy; son-in-law, Gene Hayden; brothers, Marshal and Tom Smith; sister-in-law, Ruth Fimreite.
A funeral service will be held at Central Lutheran Church, Mondovi, on Thursday, July 27, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Rolf Morck officiating. Burial will follow in Naples Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes - Mondovi Chapel on Wednesday, July 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., and then again at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
