Eleva-Strum volleyball starts conference schedule 0-2

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Eleva-Strum Cardinal volleyball team started off conference play against the Eau Claire Immanuel Lancers, losing 3-0.

Game scores were 25-9, 25-19, 25-14. In the first game, the Cardinals struggled to keep up with the Lancers. The Cardinals came out strong in games two and three, but still trailed by just a few points. Mackenzie Hutchins and Anna Schoen each had four kills on the night, and Megan McLean had six set assists.

The Cardinals continued with conference play on Thursday, Sept. 10, taking on the Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates. CFC defeated Eleva-Strum 3-0 with game scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-17. Both the Cardinals and Pirates played a strong first game, but the Cardinals came up short. When the third game came around, the Cardinals took the lead 14-7, but fell behind losing game three. Hutchins led the team with four kills, three ace serves, and eight digs. McLean had nine set assists.

The E-S volleyball team closed out their first week of conference play 0-2, with an overall record of 0-8 so far this season.

This week Cardinals took on the Gilmanton Panthers at Gilmanton on Tuesday, Sept. 15, in their lone match of the week.
