Judy Lillian Sandberg, 72, of Eleva, went to her eternal home on June 22, 2018, at Luther Hospital, in Eau Claire, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Judy was born on Nov. 9, 1945, at Buffalo Memorial Medical Center, in Mondovi. On March 27, 1965 she was united in marriage to Martin Lyle Sandberg at Drammen Lutheran Church, in Drammen, Wis. She was baptized on April 19 1946. They were married 53 years when Martin passed away.
Judy was employed as a Medical Records Technician at the American Lutheran Home, in Mondovi, for many years. She was very kind hearted and gentle and was happiest when she was doing things for other people. She was a member of Eleva Lutheran Church, where she served as a member of the ELCW. She also taught Sunday school with her husband.
Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was always happy to lend a helping hand to other people when needed. She proudly volunteered for the Relay for Life for many years. She was very proud that she was a 38-year cancer survivor.
Survivors include her three children, Martin D. Sandberg (Terri) of Rice Lake, Lisa Vigeland (Richard) of Alma, Jody Sandberg of Eleva; two brothers, Ronald Bartholomew (Reve) of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Randy Bartholomew (Rose) of Eleva; sisters-in-law, Mavis Thelen, Clarice Gray (Duane), Yvonne Johnson (Jerald), Lenette Sandberg, Bonnie Klueckman (Maynard), Faye Severson (Steve), Rhonda Segerstrom (Tom); brothers-in-law, Ralph Sandberg (Kathy), Lyle Sandberg (Joanie), Jack Sandberg (Pam), Jerry Sandberg (Shirley); sister-in-law, Joyce Sandberg of Mondovi; grandchildren, Michael Sandberg-Johnson (Nicole), Lindsay Zahara (Nathan), Chelsie Goplin, Martin A. Sandberg; great-grandchildren, Kyli and Alayna Zahara, Ben Falkner, Charlie Johnson, Mya Goplin-West.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Lyle Sandberg; parents, Robert and Lillian Bartholomew; parents-in-law, Martin and Gertrude Sandberg; great-granddaughter, Ariyah Goplin-West; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Helen Bartholomew; sister-in-law, Violet Beebe; brothers-in-law, David Sandberg, Glynn Beebe, Douglas Severson, Allen Sandberg, Bob Hanson.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2at Eleva Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Solem officiating. Burial followed in Hamlin Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 25, at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi, and at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.
