The Gilmanton girls basketball team had just one game last week, dropping a 73-42 decision to the Augusta Beavers. The team is looking to get back on the winning side of things following a Jan. 12 win vs. Mondovi, having lost four straight since that contest including a 61-29 defeat at the hands of Cochrane-Fountain City and a closer 54-44 loss to Alma Center Lincoln nearly two weeks ago.

On Thursday, Jan. 29, the Lady Panthers traveled to Augusta to take on the Beavers. The Lady Panthers came out cold and could not hit any baskets, allowing Augusta to take advantage and build a 33-20 lead going into halftime.

After returning from the locker room, the
Lady Panthers knew it was the time to step it up. Playing with great teamwork, the girls cut the deficit to five points later in the third quarter. However, from the end of the third quarter and into the fourth quarter, the Lady Panthers went ice-cold from the field while the Beavers caught fire, outscoring Gilmanton 17-6 in the final period.

Lexie Severson led the Panthers with 16 points followed by Morgan Bork with 13 while Julia Branger chipped in with five.

The Gilmanton girls faced Eleva-Strum at home for a key  Dairyland Conference rematch on Tuesday, Feb. 3, and will travel to Eau Claire Immanuel on Friday, Feb. 6.
