Lee B. Loomis, 78, of Eau Claire, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at 1:30 a.m., at home, under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Lee was born Dec. 29, 1939, in the town of Dover, Wis. Lee was the son of Stanley G. and Margit (Paulson)Loomis. Lee enlisted in the Army in 1959 and was called for Active Duty in 1961-1962. He went to Fort Lewis, Washington for training.
Lee married Judy A. Edison on Sept. 28, 1963, at East Bennett Valley Church, rural Eleva. The first year of marriage Lee worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis. In 1964 he then moved to Eau Claire, Wis. and worked at 7up Bottling Company, and Holsum Bakery as a route salesman until 1989. Lee bought a cafe in 1988, in Eleva, Wis., and also worked for Eleva-Strum Schools as a bus driver, retiring in 2006.
Lee enjoyed playing dartball and won the state tournament in 1973. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Dartball Hall of Fame in 2014. He also enjoyed playing softball and won many trophies, and enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Gordon, Wis. He was a member of the American Legion, in Eleva, and a member of the Spirit Lutheran Church of Eau Claire.
Lee is survived by his wife Judy; three sons, Scott and Penny Loomis of Eau Claire, Kevin and Nicole Loomis of Phoenix, Ariz., Greg Loomis of Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Steven and Melissa of Eau Claire; twin brother, Loren (Sharon), brother Monty (Rose); three sisters-in-law, Sonja Dole, Yvonne Borgwardt, Eunice Hawkenson; nieces and nephews.
Stanley and Alice preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 10 at Stokes, Prock and Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona Wis., with Reverend Jim Ahlquist officiating. Interment was in Riverside Lutheran Cemetery, in Mondovi, Wis.
